“If you were given the tools and the guidance, what amazing story would you create?”
At Berea–Midpark High School, we believe a strong visual arts program is fundamental to our students’ overall education. Our program provides students with the ability to navigate and succeed in their future by building lifelong skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and visual literacy, and how to apply them in real-world situations.
A program is only as strong as its mentors. We are proud to have a passionate team. Mr. Bycznski, Mrs. Boone, Mrs. McMullen, and Mr. Conti guide our students across a diverse range of subjects. Whether it’s airbrushing, ceramics, photography, painting and drawing, or digital design, there is a path here for every creative mind.
Senior Keegan Gehri is a shining example of what happens when talent meets dedication. Keegan earned prestigious honors from the Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition and the Judy Bennett Award. She is now preparing to pursue a degree in ceramics and art history, using her art as a catalyst for change.
Keegan said, “I want to be able to make a difference with my art and provoke social change. politically, and socially.”
Our students’ work reaches far beyond school walls. This year our students’ talents have been showcased at the Berea Arts Fest, the IX Centers Cleveland Gaming Classic, the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Great Berea Train Show, also featured at the Berea Board of Education, and the upcoming Cuyahoga County Berea Library’s MLK Jr. Display, and the upcoming IX Center Piston Powered Auto-Rama this March.
