Berea-Midpark High School’s Performing Arts Program prepares students for long-term success by developing creative, collaborative, and leadership skills that transfer to any work environment. Through theatre and performance-based experiences, students build confidence, adaptability, and real-world skills they apply beyond the stage.
The Berea-Midpark High School Performing Arts Program operates as an extracurricular experience through Drama Club and is not tied to a specific course. Students from all academic pathways are welcome to participate.
The program is led by Miranda Dorsey, Theater Director, and supported by professional collaborators who provide specialized instruction in vocal performance, orchestra conducting, choreography, and scenic construction.
Students may participate in a variety of creative and technical roles, including acting, technical theatre, set construction, lighting, sound, costuming, choreography, orchestra participation, and front-of-house support.
Drama Club meets monthly and offers a welcoming environment that includes skill-focused activities, collaborative games, karaoke nights, and movie nights.
The program is also a chapter of the International Thespian Society, providing opportunities for recognition and scholarships similar to the National Honor Society.
Each year, Drama Club presents three major productions:
Fall Play
Senior-Directed One Acts
Spring Musical
These productions provide students with hands-on experience across all aspects of theatre production, from auditions and rehearsals to live performances.
As an extracurricular program, students apply their skills beyond school performances through community-based opportunities. Each fall, Drama Club students volunteer as performers in events such as the Coe Lake Haunted Walk and the Benesch Law Firm Family Halloween Party. These experiences allow students to perform for real audiences while contributing to community events.
Students rehearse and perform in the Berea-Midpark High School auditorium, which seats over 700 guests and features a full lighting and sound system with fly space. Additional resources include a scene shop, costume and prop storage, and dedicated dressing rooms that support high-quality productions.
Students interested in the Performing Arts Program are encouraged to join Drama Club and participate in auditions for productions. No prior experience is required. Information about meetings, auditions, and upcoming events is shared through school communication channels and social media.
